About Naum Katsenelson

Naum Katsenelson (1933-2023) discovered his passion for art at the age of ten and went on to study under prestigious Soviet masters in Russia. His exceptional talent emerged early, with his work being exhibited across Moscow, the Soviet Union, and international venues during his teenage years. After completing his studies at the Naval Academy in Murmansk, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering followed by a PhD, Naum served as a professor until his emigration to the United States with his family in 1991.

Throughout his life in Russia, Katsenelson maintained his artistic practice alongside his academic career, participating in exhibitions throughout the Soviet Union and expanding his reach to Finland and Japan. After settling in the United States, he became a distinguished member of several prestigious institutions, including the Colorado Watercolor Society, Kansas Watercolor Society, and Colorado Artist Guild. His artwork found homes in museums and collections—both public and private—across multiple countries, including Japan, Finland, the United States, Ukraine, Estonia, Israel, and Russia.

Naum Katsenelson's unwavering dedication to his craft and his ability to balance his artistic pursuits with an accomplished academic career created a remarkable legacy that continues to resonate with artists and art enthusiasts worldwide.
